I just went in for Milk…..

and walked out of Target spending over a hundred dollars. How does that happen? And it seems to happen to me more often than not. Enough that I actually joined the group on Facebook “I went into Target to buy Shampoo and spent $150!” That happens to me at least once a week!

Do you want to know what’s even more sad? I walked up to the cashier to check out only to realize that I had forgotten to pick up the milk….the very thing I went into Target for! She started laughing and said “It happens all the time!” I feel better at least knowing that I'm not the only one.

Where do the weekends go?

Sometimes I think our weekends are busier than our weekdays!

There is really no time for rest at the Schneider house. We get up and it’s Go, Go, Go! It’s partly my fault. I’m not a sit at home kind of gal. So, I tend to plan lots of things to do together as a family on the weekends. Luckily I have a husband that just goes with the flow even though I know he is tired and would rather “veg” on the couch and watch movies. I, however, would rather be gone all day than sit or have Jonah sitting in front of a TV for hours. And in Texas we only get a couple of months to enjoy the wonderful 70 degree weather so I want to spend as much time outside soaking up the sun because I hate the extremely hot summers in Texas unless of course I am by a pool with a nice refreshing cocktail in my hand! Then I don’t mind the 100 degrees as much.

We had a birthday party on Saturday for Jonah’s friend Conor. Conor’s Mom, Jennifer, is one of my dear friends and Sorority sisters from college. The party was at this awesome place called WinKids. They had a three person swing and trampolines and a foam ball pit that you could rope swing into! Jonah had a blast! Afterwards we had lunch at Chick-fil-A. On Sunday we ran errands and then went to a Family Picnic at the park. We tried to fly a kite but when you buy the kite from the dollar bin at Target you can assume that there is a 95% chance it will not fly. Our never made it off the ground due to a very large hole. So, Josh and Jonah played baseball with his friend Ben. Meredith, who would not wear her shoes had fun sliding down the slide with Daddy and playing with her friends William and Luke.

I am leaving on Tuesday for a training visit at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN until Friday! These longer trips are always so hard! So, I’m glad that we got to spend some quality time together this weekend as a family.

Now it’s time to go make our plans for next weekend!

Spring Fling

Jonah and Meredith’s school kicked off Spring by hosting their annual Spring Fling yesterday to help raise money for charity in the McKinney area.

The school called as Josh and I were on our way to the school to let us know that Meredith had a fever. So Josh took her home and Jonah and I enjoyed playing games, visiting the petting zoo, riding on the train and eating snow cones. We waited in line twice for the face painting but decided to enjoy the other activities instead of standing in line.

We bought the lamp that Jonah made and the foot impression that Meredith made. Her little foot was the biggest one!

It was a great way to enjoy the fabulous weather and welcome Spring! Because 100 degree weather is just  around the corner!

Red Hair

When the stylist asked Jonah if he wanted her to use the red gel after his haircut I didn’t realize she meant it would actually turn his hair red! Of course he loved it :)

Lovely Ladybug

We hosted a Ladybug Luncheon for sweet Meredith’s 1st Birthday party.  She looked absolutely adorable in her ladybug tutu (though she wouldn’t keep the bow in her hair). She enjoyed being the center of attention, eating cake for the first time and opening all of her wonderful gifts from family and friends.

Easter

Since I had been traveling all week for work we had a very low key Easter Sunday at home with our family. The Easter Bunny made a visit, we went to church, had a nice brunch and then hid Easter eggs in the backyard…..at least a hundred times!

To my daughter on her first birthday…..

Today Ladybug you turn one year old. It’s hard for me to even type that sentence because I am still a little in denial that you are no longer a baby. But today you are officially a toddler. It seems like yesterday when we told Jonah that he was going to be a big brother and he proudly announced that he was excited to meet “his little sister” The funny thing is at that time we had no idea if we were having a boy or girl. But he knew.

My pregnancy with you was anything but smooth but worth every worrying moment I went through. I was on bed rest for six months, two of which were spent in the hospital. When the neonatologist would come in my room each week to explain to me the risks and outcomes of my high risk pregnancy and possible premature delivery, I prayed for you. I knew you were a fighter and a very determined little girl. For two months straight, I listened to your little heart beat twice a day. It was a sound that I found very comforting in my bleak room with four walls when Josh and Jonah or other family friends were not visiting. But in reality I was never really alone because you were there with me. I had many conversations with you before you were born. I would watch the heart rate monitor each day as you played little games with the nurses. They would find your heartbeat, setup the monitor, walk out of the room and as soon as they did, you would move away, setting off alarms at the nurses station. As soon as they would walk back in the room you would quickly move again and the heart rate monitor would start back up. They knew you were playing these games and they found it so cute and sweet and would rub my belly trying to coherce you back to your spot. I secretly think you really loved all the attention.

On April 2, 2009, Josh and I drove to the hospital and three hours later we welcomed you into the world and into our hearts. All three of us were immediately smitten with you. You were beautiful and so delicate. Our little miracle. Our little family of three became a perfect little family of four.

You are in one word “lovely”. And by that I mean you are truly loved in this family. You steal my heart with your big blue eyes. You have your daddy wrapped around your little finger. Jonah thinks you are “cooler than fruit loops and dragons” (his own words) and Riley has found a new best friend to play tug of war with.

This next year will be one of growth and excitement as you learn to talk and explore the world that surrounds you. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you!

We love you!
