Jonah's Baptism

This last weekend we headed to our hometown to have Jonah baptized at the Methodist Church. It was wonderful to have so many members of our family and our friends there to celebrate Jonah's special day!The ceremony

The church made Jonah a quilt and then had everyone say a special prayer for him as they tied one of the knots that held the quilt together

I'm 11 months old today!

Jonah is 11 months old today! Poor thing has had a really bad cold and runny nose for the last week but he's a trooper and has mangaed to stay happy! It's amazing how much they change in 4 short weeks! At 11 months....
* Jonah is eating all table food now.
* His favorite foods include the four C's: Cheetos puffs, Cheerios, Cheese and Cookies.
* He loves using his sippy cup and we are in the process of weaning him off the bottle.
* Jonah will let go when he is standing up and stand for a few seconds by himself before plopping on the floor. I would supspect it won't be long before he is walking.
* He has a fascination with pulling his shoes and socks off - in the car, at the mall, even in the grocery store.
* He loves climbing the stairs. (with us spotting him of course)
* He is finally saying Mama! (That made me very happy!)
* Jonah has also decided that he loves standing on his head and everytime he does it he laughs outloud!
* He takes big boy baths now without the baby bathtub and loves splashing the water - especially on Mommy and Daddy!
It's been an exciting month. So many changes everyday! We still can't believe he will be a year old next month! Time has really flown by! He is healthy and happy and we are two very lucky parents!

Do Blonde's Really Have More Fun?

So, after being blonde 90% of my life I decided it was time for a little change. I figured everyone in Hollywood is doing it so why not?! Josh likes it so I'll keep it this way for awhile and who knows maybe next time I'll go darker or maybe even back to blonde. You never can tell. But don't expect me to pull a Britney and shave it all off anytime soon!

Francie's 30th Birthday at Ghostbar

We headed downtown to Dallas to our friend Francie's 30th birthday at the Ghostbar in the W Hotel. We went with Vicky and Di and had an awesome time. Vicky, Di, and I took a little tour out onto their ghost desk which is a clear deck 33 floors up and allows you to see everything below you. It was a really cool but a little scary at the same time. Josh decided to just observe it from the doorway! He's not a big fan of heights! Anyway, it was nice to be able to go out sans diaper bag and carseat for a night out and have a good time with friends!

If I was going to be reincarnated I would want to come back as Riley!

After having two stressful client calls this morning and hating my job (hate is such a strong word I'll use dislike..nah I'm going with hate)** Okay, for anyone from my work reading this I really don't hate my job. I just hated it for a couple hours this morning! Most days I love my job and I am very fortunate to have it and be able to work from home! We are all entitled to hate our jobs every once in a while, right? ** Anyway, I walked into the living room to find Riley laid out like this on the couch and I thought for a moment - What a sweet life he has! He sleeps a minimum of 15 hours a day (give or take) and when he's not asleep he's getting to go on walks, getting his tummy rubbed, eating treats, chasing toys (either thrown by us or himself!!), riding in the car in our lap with his head out the window (even if it's 20 degrees outside), sleeping in our bed with his head on our pillow, shredding paper that we have to clean up, or getting to go shopping (at Petsmart for toys and treats). He never has to worry about bills, what to cook for dinner, what to wear, being late for work, getting fired or outsourced, traffic, telemarketers, washing clothes, cleaning the house, being a good parent, finding life balance, etc. My list could go on and on but that means I would have thought for much longer than a moment ;) I mean the saying goes The grass is always greener on the other side but does that apply to dogs or any domestic animal for that matter because those that are in good loving homes seem to have a pretty sweet setup! Anyway, just a thought! I think I'm going to go now, eat a treat and take a nap, maybe even shred a newspaper! ;) Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Too Sweet!

I had two early conference calls yesterday morning before I took Jonah to school so I put him in his jumper and turned on the best baby product ever created for Parents (Baby Einstein) while I took my calls. Before I receive any negative feedback regarding that comment let me just explain that Jonah is very VERY active and curious and when you set him down on the floor you can't even turn away for a second before he will be in the next room trying to find to anything that he can get his hands on. The latest fascination is anything that is crystal and has Waterford written on the bottom. And yes I know that I should put them out of his tiny little reach but I refuse to let my house be overtaken by an 11 month old and turned into his personal Toy R Us!! I have a tent and a wagon sitting in my living room and I think that's asking alot! Anyway, after my calls I went upstairs to check on him and this is how I found him! Is this not the most precious little face ever! So you want to put the Ball Pit where? In the formal Dining Room? Okay!
With that face, I think I'm going to be in a lot of trouble! ;)

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a great Valentine's Day! Josh took the day off and we went out to eat for lunch and then went to the Valentine's Day Party at Jonah's school. We had a good time hanging out with Jonah and all of his friends. He received lots of Valentine's Day cards from all the kids and the staff. We ate fruit, cookies, and Cheetos and played with all the toys! It was a good time!
Jonah during snack time with his friends Isabelle, Torin and Mathew. Notice that Torin has 2 cookies and Jonah has none. I'm pretty sure that's the reason for the sad face. Torin took Jonah's cookie right off his tray and ate it!

Riley was very anxious to taste test the V-day cookies from Gran!

Date Night!

Saturday night Josh and I went on a pre-Valentine's Day date. We ate dinner at Stephen Pyles downtown Dallas in the Arts District. It's fairly new and ranked as a five star restaurant and I had to make the reservation a month ago and was still only able to get a 9:30pm reservation. So, with that being said, I was expecting the food to be phenomenal. We were very disappointed! The service and the atmosphere were great but I was not impressed with the food at all. I probably wouldn't go back but we still like trying out new places and still had a great time being able to spend some alone time together!

Body Worlds Exhibit

Over the weekend we went to go see the Body Worlds exhibit http://www.natureandscience.org/bodyworlds/default.asp at the Museum of Nature and Science. If you live in the Dallas area I definately recommend checking it out since it runs through May! Working in the Healthcare field it was really fascinating to me to be able to see the inner contents of real human and animal bodies and all of the organs. We went with Jerod and Lauren. Jonah did really well for the 1.5 hour tour! He kept making rasberry sounds through the whole museum so he was a big hit with everyone! ;)

Happy Birthday Riley!

Riley turned 3 years old on Friday! That's 21 years old in dog years which means he's finally legal to drink now ;) But instead of hitting the bars on Friday and finding a cute poodle to hook-up with, he decided to stay home with us and eat his birthday dinner of three grilled chicken breasts. Riley used to only eat human food and loved McDonald's Chicken McNuggets (he would actually get excited when we pulled up to the window!) But after a lecture from our vet several months ago we put Riley on a strict dog food only diet so now when he gets human food it's a huge treat for him!

'Cause pimpin' ain't easy

Josh and I are starting to see a trend in some of Jonah's pictures and noticed that Lil' Jo might be destined to a future as a Gangsta (aka Rap artist). Do you agree???

Josh came up with a great song for Jonah last night that I thought I would share! All our 30 year old something friends should recognize and appreciate this classic Snoop Dogg song! And for those that don't know, Puffs are a baby snack made by Gerber ;)

Growing so fast!

I had to fly out to Maryland this week for work and when I got back last night and saw Jonah asleep in his crib he looked like he had grown 2 inches while I was gone. He looked so big! I can't believe he will be 11 months old this month and a year old next month. He's becoming such a little boy! I love these pictures of him (taken the night before I left) but it reminds me that he will not be a baby much longer! He will be entering the world of a Toddler where there are so many fun things to look forward to - walking, first words, finally saying goodbye to bottles and hello to sippy cups, eating chicken nuggets and fishsticks and of course potty training (even though I hear that's really not that much fun!)

In this picture you can see my 6th tooth starting to come in on the right! :)

Squeaky Clean

Jonah thought he was being very helpful taking the utensil basket in and out of the dishwasher while I was doing dishes. Every time a utensil came near the basket he would pull it out and then as soon as I put the utensil back in the sink he would "try" to put the basket back in the dishwasher. It was too funny!
